Chernatitsa Hut is a Bulgarian Tourist Union chalet in the Rodopi Mountains of south central Bulgaria. It is located in Rodopi Muicipality, Plovdiv Province.

Originally called Consomolska Chalet, after the Commmunist era youth organization of the same name, Chernatitsa Hut was built in 1974 by the Ruen Tourist Association (Plovdiv) with assistance from the Bulqarian Tourist Union.

Chernatitsa Chalet, former Consomolska Chalet, was built by the Ruen Tourist Association – Plovdiv with the assistance of the BTS Central Bank in 1974. It is located at 1355 m above sea level. amidst a vast meadow surrounded by coniferous forest in the Dulga Niva locality. The chalet is a modern three-storey building with 80 beds, rooms with 2 and 4 beds. Each floor has rooms with private bathroom and four rooms with shared bathroom, well-appointed restaurant, tourist dining room. It is one of the huts with the best interior architectural solutions. It is electrified, supplied with water (constantly running hot water) and drained. The rooms have laminate flooring, while the restaurant and tourist kitchen have new terracotta tiles, some of the furniture is upholstered. The most convenient starting point is the city of Plovdiv, where it takes about an hour by regular buses from Rodopi bus station to Zdravets hut. After the stop at the stop there is a chapel and continuing along the main soft road you will reach the bridge of the Studenetska River, from where you will go up for about 35 minutes in summer and 45 minutes in winter you will reach the Chernatitsa hut. The main road arrives at the Studenets Airport in 1 hour. From there, in 10 minutes, in the direction of Byala Cherkva, there is a well-marked marked path with the inscription “Chernatitsa” hut. It passes through wonderfully beautiful areas where there are fountains of veterans tourists. After about 30 minutes we arrive at the Chernatitsa hut, erected on the southern slope of the flat peak Karkama.
Lovers of longer hikes can go through the Kulata area to the airport “Byala Cherkva” for about 2.30 hours and then to the hut “Persenk” and “Erkupriya”, to the hut “Ruen” and the peak of the same name (1215 m above sea level). ) (preferably via Zdravets hut) for about 3.30 hours, to Ravnishti hut through Zdravets hut in 4 hours.
All tourist trails for Byala Cherkva airport, Ruen hut, Zdravets hut, Ravnishta hut and Studenets hut are very well marked. It is necessary to follow the marked color of the marking for the direction we are headed. In all directions there are enough fountains with clear cold water.
Especially on the way to the Tower – “White Church” and in the surroundings of the hut we can harvest berries – blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, herbs, and mushrooms.
Chernatitsa Chalet is suitable for visits during all seasons of the year due to the facilities it offers to tourists and active vacationers. Near the hut there is a monument on which a guerrilla oath is written.

Getting to Chernatitsa Hut

Chernatitsa Hut is 30 kilometers south of Plovdiv center. The fastest way to get there is via Routes 8606 and 8604 to the parking area near Zdravets Hut. From there follow the marked road about 4.5 kilometers to Chernitsa Hut. The last bit of road is in poor condition, so allow extra time to drive, or walk if necessary.
